King
Arthur is a legendary king in the mythology of Great Britain.
He lived in Camelot and had the mythical sword Excalibur. Somethink King Arthur lived some time from the end of 5th
century to the early 6th century. He might have been a king
or a leader of Britons. Later his story grew with additional
stories like the magician Merlin or the knight Sir Lancelot.
No one knows whether he is a real person or not. Some say he
is a mythical person like Hercules and some say he is a real
person with a miraculous story.
His dad
was the king Uther Pendragon, but Arthur was sent to live
with a knight when he was still a baby. When king Uther died
all the knights in Britain go to the cathedral to choose a
new king. Arthur pulls the sword from a stone. The sword is
called Excalibur and on the sword are the words. The true
king will pull the sword from this stone.
King Arthur builds his castle at Camelot, where the kings of
ancient Britain lived. Merlin and many knights come to
Camelot, where Merlin makes a round table for them. The
table is round to show that the knights are all equal. Soon
afterwards, King Arthur falls in love and marries the
beautiful Guinevere.
They lived very happily togetheruntil one of King Arthur's
best knights, Sir Lancelot, had an affair with Lady
Guinevere. King Arthur was furious, but in the end he
forgaveboth of them. Lancelot apologized for his behaviour
and decided to leave the kingdom.
The
adventure of the Holy Grail begins when Sir Lancelot’s son,
Galahad comes to Camelot. The Holy Grail, a goblet which
Jesus used at the Last Supper, appears and most of the
knights decide that they must see it again. Sir Lancelot
searches for a long time and finally sees the Grail again,
but he becomes very ill. Sir Galahad finds the Grail, but
dies after he touches it. The Grail then disappears from
the world. Later on, King Arthur's sword Excalibur was stolen and used
by a traitor named Mordred. They fought and Mordred was able
to make King Arthur bleed, but King Arthur killed Mordred in
the end. Finally, King Arthur died from losing too much
blood, and one of his knights threw the mystical sword
Excalibur into the lake where it came from.
